Kentucky - Limited X-ray Machine Operator (LXMO)

Online Didactic Training

The Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (KBMIRT) requires individuals who desire to obtain a LXMO license to complete a course of training approved by the Board.  Continuing Education Providers offers an approved online education course consisting of lecture and quizzes that includes the curriculum required by the KBMIRT.  Our online course helps the student to acquire a basic knowledge and practical understanding of the fundamentals of radiation safety and the daily operation of diagnostic x-ray equipment.  We feel that our format of lecture, quiz, practice examinations, and review is the optimal way for students to retain the information necessary to pass the licensing examination.

On-site Clinical Training

The Continuing Education Providers clinical training course is conducted by a licensed radiologic technologist at your facility.  This allows for personalized, hands-on instruction for the exams performed at your facility, minimizing the costs of having staff travel to off-site destinations and attending seminars with no hands-on experience.  Once the student completes the online course he/she contacts Continuing Education Providers to schedule a time for our clinical instructor to come to the student's place of employment to demonstrate radiographic positioning.  The student will learn radiographic positions specific to the license category for which they are applying.  It is the student's responsibility to find a facility to practice positioning and complete clinical training and competency.  The student will be required to complete a certain number of examinations under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner or a licensed Radiologic Technologist who is certified by the ARRT.  Continuing Education Providers will provide competency forms, a competency attestation form, and an x-ray procedure log.  A student checklist will also be provided to keep the student on track for obtaining their Limited X-ray Machine Operator license.

Course Cost

The cost of the Continuing Education Providers General course is $1,875.  The cost of the Podiatry course and the Bone Densitometry course is $1,500.  This includes the online didactic course, a textbook, an exam prep workbook, a radiographic positioning handbook, and clinical instruction.
